David Hornsby and Blake Anderson Developing CBS Comedy

The 'Always Sunny' writer and 'Workaholics' star would serve as creators and stars of the potential family sitcom.

With pilot season just around the corner, CBS has made a relatively late addition to its development slate. The network is working on a comedy vehicle from writer-actors David Hornsby and Blake Anderson.

The still-untitled project, which hails from CBS Television Studios, is a single-camera sitcom about a straitlaced father who must deal with shifting family dynamics when his former wife remarries and her younger, free-spirited husband starts sharing parenting duties. Counting Hornsby and Anderson as both creators and stars puts the project in an advantageous position heading into pilot season, since the top two leads have already been cast. Peak TV, after all, has made pilot casting a more aggressive race than ever.

The pair come to the project with substantial comedy acting résumés. Hornsby, who briefly starred in his own CBS comedy How to Be a Gentleman in 2011, is likely best known for his writing work and frequent guest appearances on It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. He next recurs in NBC midseason entry Good Girls. Anderson starred in Comedy Central's Workaholics, which he co-created, until the show wrapped its seven-season run earlier in 2017.

Both Anderson and Hornsby are both repped by WME. Hornsby is with Rise Management, while Anderson is at Avalon and Morris Yorn Barnes.
