Clairvoyant Cop Drama From David Heyman Gets NBC Pilot Pickup

And it's called 'In Between Lives.'

NBC is putting a new twist on the cop drama.

The network has handed out its second pilot order of the season, picking up In Between Lives from David Heyman (Harry Potter, Gravity).

Moira Kirland (Madam Secretary, Hawaii Five-0) will pen the script and exec produce alongside Heyman and Nancy Cotton.

The drama revolves around a mysterious young woman who reluctantly uses her gift of clairvoyance to help a veteran LAPD detective and a damaged ex-FBI outsider solve the most unnerving and challenging cases the city encounters. This eerie ability also opens the door for her to see and talk to the dead, who are seeking help for unresolved problems, whether she likes it or not.

The drama hails from Heyday Television, Universal Television and NBC International. The pickup comes as NBC International is making a greater push into scripted, with NBCUniversal chief content officer Jeff Wachtel moving to London to manage all aspects of television development, production, formats and strategic content partnerships for NBCUniversal International Studios. He reports to Kevin MacLellan, chairman of global distribution and international. Wachtel replaces Michael Edelstein, who announced his exit last month after a seven-year run and will leave at year's end, when his contract is up.

In Between Lives is NBC's second pilot order for the 2018-19 broadcast season, joining apartment building drama The Village.
